H2MOF’s Co-Founder Prof. Omar Yaghi Awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry
Prof. Omar M. Yaghi, co-founder of H2MOF, has been awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his pioneering work in the development of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). His groundbreaking work in developing metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) enables a new era of transformative applications, especially in clean energy storage and climate technologies.
Enabling Transformative Technologies
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences celebrates the creation of a “new form of molecular architecture,” in which metal ions serve as nodes linked by organic molecules, yielding crystalline, porous structures with vast internal surface areas. The Nobel Committee emphasized that MOFs “bring previously unforeseen opportunities for custom-made materials with new functions.”
This recognition underscores the transformative potential of MOFs and aligns with H2MOF’s mission to enable a broader adoption of hydrogen by solving the hydrogen storage challenge with nano-engineered reticular materials. Learn more
In Tribute to Nobel Laureate, Sir Fraser Stoddart
Our late co-founder and Professor Yaghi’s friend and partner, Nobel Laureate Sir Fraser Stoddart, would have been immensely proud. He always viewed Professor Yaghi as a leader in scientific discovery and a major force in chemistry and materials science.
H2MOF proudly congratulates Prof. Yaghi for this extraordinary honor and looks forward to continuing the journey of innovation their work has made possible. Learn more about how Prof. Yaghi joined forces with Sir Fraser Stoddart to tackle the hydrogen storage challenge: Our Founders
