About the Position
H2MOF is tackling climate change by solving the greatest challenge facing the hydrogen economy: safe and efficient hydrogen storage.
Our company conducts research, development, and manufacturing of nanomaterials for use in hydrogen energy systems. We are seeking qualified process safety engineers with OSHA and Fire Department compliance and hydrogen safety and operational experience. The Hydrogen Process Safety Engineer will be responsible for ensuring compliance to regulatory and safety guidelines across multiple sites. The position will conduct risk assessment and enforce preventive measures to minimize hazards in multiple chemical laboratory and manufacturing environments, ensure compliance with regulations, promote health and safety, conduct trainings, and maintain a safe working environment.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Manage safety process for hydrogen and nanomaterial development, laboratories and manufacturing facilities.
- Serve as subject matter expert on hydrogen hazards, NFPA and other related standards, OSHA/CalOSHA regulations and industrial best practices.
- Support and develop OHS policies and programs.
- Implement safety policies at multiple sites with chemical labs, flammable and inert gas cylinders, high pressure piping, power tools, and machinery.
- Conduct risk assessment, regulatory compliance gap analysis and implement countermeasures and enforce preventive measures
- Draft policies and SOPs.
- Document and implement Safety Policies, procedures and work instructions.
- Train new and existing employees on safety policies and procedures and maintain training records.
- Undertake internal audits and maintain a supply of PPEs.
- Undertake corrective and preventive actions to improve safety.
- Any other duties assigned by management.
Essential Qualifications
- BS/MS in chemical, or mechanical engineering or related field.
- Experience in safety with high pressure and hydrogen energy systems.
- In depth knowledge of regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc) and industry standards (NFPA, CGA etc.).
- Knowledge of hazardous materials and practices.
- Experience in writing reports, policies, and SOPs.
- Demonstrated leadership skills including collaborative work across multiple teams.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
