About the Position
H2MOF is tackling climate change by solving the greatest challenge facing the hydrogen economy: safe and efficient hydrogen storage. We are looking for a Control Systems/Sensors Engineer to help with developing the next generation solid-state hydrogen storage systems and associated hydrogen refueling/charging equipment and integration with fuel cell power units. The Control Systems/Sensors Engineer is expected to configure/build prototypes, test prototypes to evaluate functionality and performance, collaborate with engineers and scientists to refine prototype designs, and document and report testing results and prototype performance. This position involves hands-on work on cryogenic and high pressure systems, hydrogen system prototype testing and collaborative work spanning extended hours.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement control systems for hydrogen flow, heating and cooling and refueling applications.
- Select appropriate sensors and instrumentation to monitor and control process variables.
- Program and tune PID controllers to ensure optimal performance and stability of the control systems.
- Conduct system testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure reliability and accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems for various hydrogen storage system use cases.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including system specifications, design documents, and user manuals.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in control systems and sensor technologies.
Essential Qualifications
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering, control systems engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in designing and implementing control systems, particularly with PID controllers.
- Strong knowledge of sensor selection and integration for various process variables (e.g., temperature, pressure, mass flow).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, or MATLAB.
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
- Experience with hydrogen flow systems and related safety protocols is a plus.
- Knowledge of heating and cooling system dynamics is a plus.
- Certification in control systems engineering (e.g., CCST) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
